This apartment fit-out is located on the upper floor of a turn of the century butcher's retail store. The upper floor becomes an open plan living area with rooms to one end.
The wet area bathroom and laundry has the main bedroom located to the mezzanine above that opens to a huge roof terrace. Located on the Great North Rd ridge it gains the most unbelievable sunsets.
The client worked closely with us and desired a high level of design through to the smallest features. The shower and bath mixer was a standard fitting that we removed all its non-working parts. Combining this with very low-tech elements, we created a shower and bath plumbing combination that feed the claw-foot bath to one side and an open shower through a glass eyeglass to the other.
This was Koia Architects first office and has become a favorite film set with Lee Tamahori producing an 'Anchor Milk' ad and Jamie Oliver cooking with 'Pams' products.
